CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL. It was Kleon’s wish to be cremated and cremation rites have been accorded. Interment of cremated remains will be in Mound Cemetery, Jasper County, IL near Oblong, IL. There will be no visitation.

Raymond “Kleon” Perkins, 91, Oblong, IL passed away at 1:10 P.M. Friday May 27, 2016 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL.
Kleon was born on July 14, 1924 in Oblong, IL. He was the son of Palmer Perkins and Ora (Wall) Perkins.
Kleon was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the First Christian Church, Oblong, IL. He attended Oblong schools in the Shady School District northwest of Oblong. He was a photographer and took pictures of just about everything. Kleon was also into CB and Ham radio. Kleon was honored by Kevin Orpurt and WTHI-TV 10 for being a long term weather reporter for the Oblong area.
Kleon is survived by for nephews Robert “Bob” and Ann Perkins of Portage, MI, Roger and Rebecca Perkins of Peru, IL, Michael D. “Mike” and Debi Perkins of Gladwin, MI and Paul Perkins of Oblong, IL. and his major care giver for many years Lois Ikemire of Oblong, IL.
Preceding Kleon in death were his parents; two brothers Earl and Gerald Perkins and one infant sister.
